I am a PaCC Rep for Parent Groups and Befriending (PGB). My experience comes from being a parent carer, navigating a SEND world with little or no instructions, and through working with parents\/carers in crisis, with children who have a multitude of different disabilities and needs that often go unmet.
\nI also have experience of working with young homeless people, which often included young people with mental health difficulties and SEND needs, in an educational setting. I hope to support parent\/carer views to make good changes to education and NHS services and give our young people with SEND the best chance to lead fulfilling lives.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/4″]

I have three teenaged children. My son was diagnosed with a severe hearing loss at the age of two. I am a parent rep on the \u2018CHSWG\u2019 (Children\u2019s Hearing Services Working Group) group of professionals who work with deaf children locally. I joined the PaCC steering group having seen first-hand the brilliant work that PaCC does, enabling parents and carers to have a voice and join in with advocating for the needs of children and their families across the city.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/4″]

How it started<\/b><\/h2>

The forum was formed in 2016 to enable parent carers of children with any condition to work closely together to help improve services and support.<\/h4><\/div>[vc_column_text]Our aim is to facilitate parents and carers involvement in the strategic delivery of services for children with disabilities and additional needs in Brighton & Hove. We are one of parent carers\u2019 voices in the city.<\/p>\n

PaCC is a member of the National Network of Parent Carers Forum<\/a>, a network of over 150 Parent Carer Forums from across England. These member forums are arranged into nine regions, these follow the same regional breakdown as the Department for Education with each of the regions appointing a regional representative to act as their regional steering group member within the NNPCF national steering group. PaCC is part of the South East Region. The Parent Carer Forums are also supported by Contact<\/a>.
