PaCC Rep profile: Ali Davis

Name: Ali Davis

Role Within PaCC: PaCC rep

Parent Carer Experience: I have three amazing children currently at secondary school or college. My 15 year old son was diagnosed as deaf just before his second birthday. He wears two ‘behind the ear’ hearing aids, and has thrived in mainstream education. He does not have an EHCP (Education and Health Care Plan) but has been supported by the Sensory Needs Team from BHISS (Brighton and Hove Inclusion Support Service) since his diagnosis, and by the SEND provision in his primary and secondary schools.

My PaCC Experience: I joined PaCC several years ago as a parent rep for CHSWG (Children’s Hearing Services Working Group). This is a group of professionals in health and education who work with deaf children and their families. It has been a privilege to be part of PaCC, advocating around the specific needs of our community of deaf children and their families, and also more widely for the accessibility of health services, and what is needed for appointments to ‘work well’ for all children and young people with SEND.
