Short Breaks Latest news for October 2024 half term

SEND Short Breaks latest for October 2024 half term

Following last week’s parent carer meeting, please see Brighton & Hove City Council’s statement about October half term SEND Short Breaks :

“All Eequ listings for SEND Short Breaks are now live for activities to be booked. Providers running sessions this October are: Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club (BHAFC), Parable Dance, Activ8 and Angling4Education. You can view dates and book SEND short breaks sessions here.

“Link Up, the new provision by the Down’s Syndrome Development Trust (DSDT), will be running two sessions in October, for children with complex needs other than Down’s Syndrome. See Link Up – Serving other SEND needs.

“Their Down’s Syndrome provision will run separately. Get details of DSDT’s Day Camp here.

“We are committed to developing the process used to confirm Link Up tickets but acknowledge that it’s important for parents and carers to have confirmation of their Short Breaks activities as soon as possible. For this reason, we will be using the same ‘expressions of interest’ system for Link Up sessions and continue working on a more streamlined system ahead of other holidays.

Download the Link UP booking guide, which details the provision in more detail and outlines how to express an interest in attending the sessions.

Expressions of interest for this provision opened on Monday 16th September 2024. To ensure we have time to allocate the spaces fairly across the sessions, expressions of interest in this provision will close on Friday 20th September 2024 (midday). Please ensure you register your interest within these dates to be considered for a place.

“Once you have registered your interest, we will work closely with colleagues from Link Up, Social Workers and Social Work Resource Officers to allocate spaces fairly. You will then receive an email confirmation of the sessions your child has been allocated on Friday 20th September 2024.

“Please note, the venue for the Link Up provision is under review and may not be the venue we move forward with for the October provision. It’s important for us to be transparent about this process and as soon as we have confirmation of which venue will be used, we will share this with parents/carers. Brighton & Hove City Council and Link Up are committed to providing visual aids for the venue and staff at Link Up, to support your child or young person attending.
