Welcome to PaCC’s January 2026 Round-Up
PaCC continues to ensure your views, experience and suggestions are taken into account when services for your children and family are commissioned and delivered. Fiona (PaCC Interim Lead), Paolo, (Engagement Coordinator), Nikki, Leila and Gabi (PaCC Autism in Schools & PINS Engagement Workers) and the whole PaCC Steering Group have been working on a range of activities and events recently.
Key work activities
Follow the links to find out more about each area of work in more detail:
- the appointment of a Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO) – PaCC fought hard for this important new role in the city, bridging social care services and the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) system.
- Brighton and Hove City Council Budget 2026/27 – PaCC is feeding back to councillors about the BHCC budget 2026/27
- Adult Care Quality Commission (CQC) Social Care Inspection Report - Brighton & Hove City Council received an inadequate inspection report and PaCC is working with them on their Adult Social Care Improvement Plan.
- Brighton and Hove City Council Education and Social Care Workplan – PaCC has been sharing parent carer feedback to help shape the officer workplan for 2026
- Autism in School (AiS) and Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) – PaCC is in year two of each project running coffee morning at specific schools across the city
Upcoming PaCC engagement events
We know that local government and the NHS are going through some big changes, and we want to help you understand what this could mean for you and your family. A new SEND White Paper is expected soon, and we hope to share what we know about it. We’ve been working with the other Sussex parent carer forums, as part of the new Sussex Parent Carer Forum Collaborative, to set up information events. We have two free events for parent carers in Brighton & Hove:
- Making sense of change (in person) – Mon 23 Feb, 10am to 12.30pm, at the Brighthelm Centre, Brighton BN1
- Making sense of change (online) – Thurs 5 March, 6.30 to 8.30pm, via MS Teams
