Round Up July 2026

Welcome to PaCC’s July 2026 Round-Up

PaCC share with you some key areas of work that the team and PaCC reps have been involved with over the summer term.

PaCC engagements and consultations

During the past few months, PaCC facilitated two parent carer engagement events for parent carers concerned about Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC)’s proposed closure of Wellington House, a council-run day centre for adults with learning disabilities. Read PaCC’s response to the Wellington House closure consultation, based on your feedback.

PaCC partners

PaCC’s structure, which includes our partners, enables different parent carers communities to directly feedback to us. We’re pleased to share an update from the Children’s Hearing Services Working Group (CHSWP), one of our partners.

Brighton & Hove City Council SEND Reform Plan (2026-2026)

The Department of Education’s SEND Reform Plan came with very short timescales for Brighton & Hove City Council to produce the local SEND Reform plan. The council has just released the following information about the plan, including next steps: Information about the local SEND Reform Plan from Brighton & Hove City Council

Staffing

Recruitment has been a key focus as we approach Paolo Boldrini’s retirement at the end of this month. Paolo has been such a committed member of the PaCC team for over 13 years, thank you Paolo for all this hard work ensuring parent carer engagement has been ‘loud and proud’ in Brighton and Hove. We will miss Paolo hugely and wish him all the best in his retirement. Please keep in touch Paolo!!! Read Paolo’s goodbye here.

We are pleased to have appointed a new Co-production, Communications and Engagement Co-ordinator, who brings lots of relevant experience to the team, and will work Monday to Thursday. More info in the autumn term.
